She’s a top contender for the Mirror Ball trophy thanks to her outstanding performances on Dancing With the Stars, but just last year, stunning Katherine Jenkins nearly lost everything, including the love of her life.
As she planned her fairy-tale wedding to hunky TV host Gethin Jones, the opera singer was blindsided by his sudden change of heart. “Katherine was absolutely devastated when Gethin broke up with her,” a friend of the 31-year-old — who dated her Welsh fiancé for five years — tells In Touch. “She thought she had found the man she was going to spend the rest of her life with.”
Sadly, while the Welsh starlet found success in the U.K. — even sharing a dinner date with Queen Elizabeth II — Katherine’s strong ambition destroyed her relationship to Gethin, who proposed with a $16,000 ring during a romantic Mexican boat trip in January 2011. "Spending time together was always an issue for them,” the friend explains of the couple. “She had such a busy career, it was obvious that the dream wedding she spoke about was never going to happen.”
With her recent move to LA to join Dancing With the Stars, she seems determined to charm America with her beauty and talent. “There are a million men who would kill to date her,” the friend says. “I can’t imagine she will be single for long!” But until she learns to balance her career and love life, it seems that the gorgeous star is destined to remain alone.
